MRA (Minimum Retirement Age)

The earliest age a FERS employee can retire, set by birth year (55–57).

Your FERS Minimum Retirement Age depends on your birth year: 55 for those born before 1948, rising in two-month steps to 56 (born 1953–1964) and 57 (born 1970 or later). Reaching your MRA with 30 years of service allows an immediate unreduced annuity; with 10–29 years it allows a reduced MRA+10 retirement.
